BE A PART OF HISTORY:
The 2022 Special Olympics USA Games to be held in Orlando, FL June 5-12, 2022, will be the largest USA Games in history and the largest humanitarian event in the State of Florida’s history.
Volunteers make the Games possible furthering the mission of opportunity for all.  Volunteers play a critical role in providing an outstanding experience for the athletes, families, and spectators.  We appreciate you giving your time, talent and commitment to making these the best Games ever!  
 
TWO WAYS YOU CAN VOLUNTEER:
 Medical and Health professionals are welcome to select shifts in one or both of the following areas.  Some roles may require specific training, proof of license or background check.
  • Healthy Athletes Experience Volunteer Shifts -  Hundreds of fun positions and shifts available!  Play a part in the largest US Games delivery of free health screenings and educational information for athletes.  Screenings include Fit Feet, FUNFitness, Healthy Hearing, Health Promotion, Opening Eyes, Special Smile, Strong Minds and more!
  • Event Medical Services Volunteer Shifts -  Help the Games provide Sideline, General and Emergency Medical Services for athletes, volunteers and event guests.
HOW TO REGISTER.  SHIFT SELECTION WILL OCCUR AS A SECOND STEP ON A SEPARATE SITE:
  • If you were selected as a Leadership Volunteer, have your color passport style photo on white background no larger than 1MB ready to upload.  PLEASE read all specifications for the photo listed below.  Photos that do not meet these specifications will need to be replaced.  
  • Have your Medical License # ready to input (if applicable).
  • Click REGISTER NOW on the top of this page.
  • Enter the Access Code provided by your Campaign Coordinator into the box and click Select.
  • Complete all fields of the registration process before submitting your information.
  • You will receive an email confirming your registration was successful.    
  • If you do not see the confirmation email, check your promotional or junk folder.  If you still cannot find it, contact your Campaign Coordinator.
  • Your registration confirmation email will contain the link to the Shift Selection site and instructions on how to select your shifts. 
     
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age at time of registration.
  • If you have been confirmed as a Leadership Volunteers, you must submit a credential photo that meets required specifications (see below).
  • Have your own email address & mobile phone number for registration. No shared email/phone #s.  
  • Medical & Health Program Volunteers sign up for a minimum of two (2) shifts. 
  • Please show up if you sign up. The athletes and your fellow volunteers are counting on you!
  • Follow all health, safety, venue operating guidelines and Volunteer Code of Conduct.
  • Complete the required online training and orientation and waivers before receiving your credential, Games-issued items, and volunteering.
  • Add MedHealthVolunteers@2022USAGames.org to your email contacts to ensure you receive Games updates and scheduling information.
MEDICAL AND HEALTH PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS PLEASE BE ADVISED:
  • Any information shared in your registration/shift selection will be visible to the Medical and Health Program organizers and representatives managing the campaign and 2022 USA Games Staff and Volunteers managing the campaign and volunteer services.
  • Please complete all fields and sections of registration including uploading your required credential photo if you are a Leadership Volunteer.
  • If required, please provide your license # and issuing state before finalizing your registration.  
  • You will receive an email confirming your registration was successful and the Shift Selection site link and instructions on how to select your shifts.  If you do not see this email in your inbox, please check your junk, promotional or spam folder. If you do not receive a confirmation email please contact your Campaign Coordinator.
  • If you will be performing in a Class A Volunteer position, you must take a national criminal background check and possibly a motor vehicle check through Sterling Volunteers.  You may also be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement. 
  • Class A Volunteers must be deemed eligible through the background check process before being confirmed as a volunteer.
  • Please note that some volunteer medical roles require specific training or may require proof of license.
 
CREDENTIAL PHOTO SPECIFICATIONS (Leadership Volunteers Only):
Accepted file format: JPG or PNG
  • The headshot photo is required for leadership volunteers and used for credentialing.  Photos that do not meet the specifications must be replaced.
  • A photo of your driver's license or passport does not meet specifications.     
  • Photo should capture from slightly above top of hair to middle of chest so that your face takes up 70-80% of the photograph 
  • Directly face the camera with eyes open and visible and face in focus
  • Background must be plain white 
  • Must be a photo in color 
  • Nothing should block the photos (e.g. watermarks, staples, flash) 
  • Eyeglasses should be worn if normally used by the individual and should not cover any part of the eyes 
  • Include headpieces if worn daily for religious purposes; they should not obscure or cast shadows on the eyes or any other part of the face.  No other head/hair accessory or hats.  
  • Medium – resolution photography and printing are strongly recommended
VOLUNTEER KEY DATES:

April/May 2022 – Volunteers will take online training.
May 2022 – Volunteers will have the option to participate in the May 14th Volunteer Orientation session where you can also pick up your credential, T-shirt(s) and Games items. Details are emailed to volunteers.  Volunteers will take required online training.  If you already received your volunteer online training assignments via email, please complete the modules.  For all other volunteers, online training assignment has closed, however, you can watch the Volunteer Orientation Session for key information about the Games, safety and service. 
End of May/Early June 2022 – Volunteers can pick up their credential, T-shirt(s) and Games-issued items once they have completed requisite training. Pick up days are May 28 & 29, June 1-5.  Details are emailed to volunteers.  

 
FAQ'S:
WHAT VENUES WILL HOST THE COMPETITIONS & EVENTS?
2022 USA Games competition and special events will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, various Disney Resorts and select competition venues in City of Orlando, Orange County and Osceola County.  A list of venues can be found on the 2022 USA Games website.
WILL TRANSPORTATION BE INCLUDED?
  • Transportation to & from Central Florida, venues, airports and Opening Ceremony is the responsibility of the volunteer.  
  • Disney may offer very limited transportation to & from select Disney Resorts and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and Disney's Typhoon Water Park for Resort guests.
WHAT DO VOLUNTEERS RECEIVE?  
Volunteers will receive:
  • One (1) Games T-shirt if volunteering two (2) shifts.  Two (2) Games T-shirts if volunteering three (3) or more shifts. 
  • Games souvenir credential
  • Games cap
  • One (1) complimentary meal served for each volunteer shift of five (5) hours or more. Start date TBD.  Food allergies will be accommodated to the extent possible when advance notice is provided during registration.
